Hydration Pack Drink Tube Insulator | Insulated Hose Sleeve

Stop letting the weather freeze your flow or heat up your hydration. Our Insulated Drink Tube Cover provides an essential thermal barrier for your water bladder hose, ensuring every sip is refreshing. Whether you're ice climbing or desert trekking, it’s the ultimate hydration system upgrade.

Key Features & Benefits

  • All-Weather: Delays freezing in winter and heat gain in summer.
  • Universal Fit: Fits CamelBak, Osprey, Gregory, Platypus, and more.
  • Premium Neoprene: High-density 3mm SBR for slim, effective insulation.
  • Fast Setup: Simple slip-on design installs in seconds.
  • Durable: Protects hose from UV rays, scratches, and punctures.
  • Material: Heavy-duty, weather-resistant Neoprene
  • Length: 36" and 43" (Standard Drink Tube Lengths), cannot be trimmed for a custom fit (SEE "Custom insulator" Tab)
  • Compatibility: Fits 3/8" to 1/2" standard diameter drink tube hoses
  • Weight: Ultra-lightweight (under 2oz)
  • Drink Tube Insulator ONLY: (Does not come with components.)

Military & NVG Use: This insulated cover is neoprene and is not IR compliant. If you run night vision goggles, add one of our Non Insulated Drink Tube Covers over the insulator. Those are made from U.S. military factory fabric and are IR signature compliant.

Pro Tip: For extreme winter sports like skiing or snowboarding, pair this with our Drink Tube Bite Valve Cover to ensure your entire system remains ice-free.

Installing your hydration tube cover takes just seconds:
  1. Disconnect your drink tube from the water bladder.
  2. Slide the cover over the tube from the base connector end.
  3. Work the cover along the tube until it’s fully positioned.
  4. Reconnect the tube to your bladder, ready to go.

Pro Tip: If the insulator becomes difficult to slide onto the drink tube, lightly wet the tube first. The moisture acts as a lubricant, making installation easier.

Visit our FAQ section for more information.

Most hydration drink tubes come in standard 36" and 43" lengths. Our neoprene covers are designed for flexibility, easily accommodating a variance of up to two inches.

However, some water bladders feature a mid-tube "Quick Connect" point, resulting in a much shorter tube length. Please note that because of the specialized seam stitching, these insulators cannot be cut, or the material will unravel.

To ensure a perfect fit for non-standard drink tubes, we offer Custom Drink Tube Insulator Sleeves here.

FAQ

How do I get the insulator sleeve over the drink tube base connector?

Most hydration tubes have a base connector that will allow the tube cover to slip over as seen in our Installation Video.

  • The Fix: To install the insulator, bunch the fabric together near the base connector and firmly grip the tube through the material. Using an "inchworm" motion, push the bunched section forward while simultaneously pulling the leading edge, repeating until the insulator is fully seated over the connector.
  • Pro Tip: If the insulator gets stuck halfway, the friction between the inner lining and the tube is likely too high to overcome. To fix this, apply a small amount of water to the exterior of the drink tube; the moisture acts as a temporary lubricant, allowing the insulator to slide smoothly the rest of the way.

Does insulation actually prevent freezing in sub-zero temps?

The short answer: It buys you time, but it isn't a heater. Insulation slows down the heat transfer, but the water sitting in the tube will eventually freeze because it has a high surface-area-to-volume ratio. Most experienced cold-weather hikers pair an insulated sleeve with the "blow-back" method, blowing air into the tube after sipping to push the water back into the (warmer) reservoir.

Important Caveat: The Bite Valve

The most vulnerable part of the system is the bite valve. Even if your tube is insulated, the valve is a small, uninsulated piece of silicone exposed to the air. In winter, this is almost always the first part to freeze. A "bite valve cover" which is essential for temperatures below 20 degrees. We recommend adding our Drink Tube Bite Valve Cover.

Will it keep my water cold during summer heatwaves?

Absolutely. While most people think of insulation for winter, it's arguably more popular for preventing that "first sip of hot water" during summer hikes. A neoprene sleeve can keep the water in the tube at a drinkable temperature for significantly longer when exposed to direct sunlight.
